Jean D'Imbleval

JEAN D'IMBLEVAL

Born in 1929 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, died in 2014 in Paris.

Jean d'Imbleval is interested in the cube because it is the product of a construction process conceived by humankind since its origins. This perfect form creates surprise in d'Imbleval's work, as the viewer must seek it out if they are already aware of its existence; otherwise, it appears by chance or as if by magic, in the turn of a lingering glance. Between the magic of the self-supporting structure and the cube concealed within a box, which remains invisible to the eye, d'Imbleval not only appeals to the imagination but also piques curiosity.
