Art Cologne
Jean Dewasne, Auguste Herbin, and Victor Vasarely, Nicholas Bodde, Jean-François Dubreuil, Siegfried Kreitner, Henri Prosi, Sigurd Rompza
From April 19 to 22, 2018
We are delighted to welcome you back to our stand in Cologne this year. We will be showcasing three important artists from the gallery: Jean Dewasne (1910-1981), Auguste Herbin (1891-1961), and Victor Vasarely (1909-1980). Jean Dewasne and Victor Vasarely worked with Anne and Jean-Claude Lahumière during their lifetimes, and the latter have given them a prominent place in their collection.
Now is the time for us to share this passion for geometric art born from several encounters, and in particular, the decisive one with Jean Dewasne.
Anne and Jean-Claude, very young gallery owners, met the artist in the 1960s, and from this encounter several creative events were born, including a particularly memorable one, the birth of the mural in the Hauptbahnhof metro station in Hanover in 1975, still in place, but also Jean-Claude's collaboration on the final form of "The Red Habitacle" which is now in the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau-Cambrésis (in northern France).
It was this beneficial influence that guided the gallery's direction. We will be offering a selection of works by these three artists in one section of the booth, including a little-known work by Victor Vasarely that departs from kinetic patterns.
We are also lending our support to a Vasarely exhibition which will open at the end of September at the Staedtler in Frankfurt.
The other part of the stand will be dedicated to contemporary artists, such as Nicholas Bodde, Jean-François Dubreuil, Siegfried Kreitner, Henri Prosi, and Sigurd Rompza, who are very popular with you every year.
We look forward to seeing you again and send you our warmest regards,
Diane Lahumière and the gallery team
