Günter Fruhtrunk "The Parisian Years 1954-1967"

At the Lenbachhaus - Munich

From November 21, 2023 to April 7, 2024

We are very pleased to support Günter Fruhtrunk's exhibition 'The Parisian Years' at the Lenbachhaus Museum in Munich.

This exhibition focuses on this prolific period in Fruhtrunk's life and work and places it in the context of Franco-German artistic relations in the 1950s and 1960s. The forty or so works with which he presented himself to the public of the time give a vivid idea of the experience of the contemporary viewer.

Günter Fruhtrunk and Eva-Maria Fruhtrunk were among Anne and Jean-Claude Lahumière's friends. During their years in Paris, living in a maid's room on Avenue d'Iéna, the close quarters of these dwellings fostered a bond between the Lahumières and the Fruhtrunks. Later, as the Lahumière publishing house grew, Anne and Jean-Claude Lahumière invited him to collaborate on a portfolio of six serigraphs, which was published in 1971.
