Marcelle Cahn, Untitled 1969

Collage and graphite on paper, 13 x 16 cm

Marcelle Cahn is an important figure in the history of the Museum, represented in its collections by three works. She was first featured in 1961 during the landmark exhibition of the Mesure group, founded by Georges Folmer (1895-1977), thanks to the invitation of Francis Pellerin and Marie Berhaut, then professor at the Rennes School of Fine Arts and director of the museum. This first and only exhibition of the Mesure group in France significantly influenced the museum's acquisition policy, establishing a strong identity for it in the field of geometric abstract art. An entire room in the museum's permanent collection on the first floor remains dedicated to the Mesure group.
