Nicholas Bodde - Siegfried Kreitner

Aluminium, colours and engines - paintings and sculptures

From March 7 to April 18, 2015

Nicholas Bodde constructs color, juxtaposing it in lines and bands using different tools, resulting in surfaces imbued with divergent materials. In his latest works from the "Dynamic" series, he pushes back the horizon, creating an effect of rapid passage, the impression that a landscape is flashing by at lightning speed, on rectangular or oval formats.

This work contrasts with the monochrome of Siegfried Kreitner's pieces, where color is concealed as light within totems or boxes that breathe slowly. There, time stands still, and, as he himself defines his objects as "minimal-kinetic," our eyes rest for a moment to observe the slowing down, driven by motors with tranquil movements.

Aluminum is their common material, but the slowness of Kreitner's motors contrasts with the speed of Bodde's color; they converge in this perspective as well as in the opposing appearances of garish color and fluorescent light. Visiting this exhibition is like going from one extreme to the other, so stop or continue?
